Stark Broadening of Neutral Helium 5016 Å Line

چکیده

Plasma spectral line broadening is an important tool for plasma diagnostic in both laboratory and astrophysical field. The neutral helium lines are used e.g., in industrial applications and to determine the properties of stellar atmospheres of hot stars. In local thermal equilibrium, the spectral line profile is related to the dipole autocorrelation function which is related to the two-particle polarization function in interacting medium. The polarization function has been considered from thermodynamic Green’s function technique in many-particle system, for more details see [1] and references therein. In addition to our studied transition lines in Ref. [1], we investigate here He I 5016 Å line profile. We applied the Born approximation to calculate electronic contribution to the width. The total electronic widths are compared with the theoretical data of Griem [2] and the MD simulations results for independent and interacting trajectory particles of Gigosos et al. [3], see Fig. 1.
